Ironwood, as the name implies, is extremely hard and heavy heartwood dehydrated in the desert for many years. It will not float in water, making it one of the heaviest woods known to man. Living ironwood trees are now protected and removal of the dead wood from the desert is strictly regulated. Many hours of sanding reveal a beautiful smooth finish. Each carving is truly unique and a great collectible item that can be passed down from generation to generation.
